[Image taken 20.6.22] Monks Cross retail park, Huntington/York. Around an hour after a conversation with a friend who told me he's been diagnosed with asthma caused by air pollution (particles) and is on a daily inhaler, I find a Mr Whippy with its engine running. In an area that is – usually – free of motor vehicles. Where people – including children in arms, buggies, led by the hand – were crossing today. As I was taking this image an adult and a child perched on the narrow metal edges of the planters to my left... to eat an ice cream. By the sound it was a diesel engine, I'll ask. But the sign on the back 'Watch out children about' is all wrong. It's air pollution that is the greater danger - to all of us. This is at an out of town retail park that is a huge trip generator and therefore already a cause of air pollution. Even on a Monday afternoon, the car park was busy. Other images today: #183650, #183652.
